The crisp autumn air swirled fallen leaves around my feet as I strolled through Oxford's historic streets. This was more than just a city; it was a living, breathing testament to intellectual pursuit and timeless beauty.
My itinerary started with a visit to Christ Church College, the grandeur of its Great Hall leaving me speechless. The vaulted ceiling soared above, adorned with intricate carvings and tapestries depicting scenes from history. I could easily picture Harry Potter dining in this very hall during my favourite films!
Later, I wandered through the labyrinthine shelves of the Bodleian Library, a treasure trove of ancient manuscripts and rare books. Bibury's Arlington Row, a quintessential Cotswold scene of honey-coloured cottages lining a babbling brook, stole my heart. Next, I explored Bourton-on-the-Water, nicknamed "the Venice of the Cotswolds" for its charming bridges and sparkling rivers. I strolled along the banks, watching ducks paddle leisurely and admiring the quaint cottages with their flowering window boxes. The air was filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread from a nearby bakery, enticing me to indulge in a sweet treat.
My final destination was Castle Combe, another picture-perfect village nestled amidst rolling hills. Exploring its ancient stone houses and charming tea rooms, I felt transported back in time.
